2015 Vintage
White Foil/Capped
Bottle #?: 0918
Bottled On: 18 Aug 2015
ABV: 7.8%
Poured into a chalice a pretty nice clean/clear light ruby red color, very nice carbonation, with a nice kinda quick/small white head, which leaves some pretty nice medium size island and some sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, yeasty, with lots of raspberries, slight oak, tartness. The taste is pretty nice, malty, yeasty, raspberries, nice little oakyness, tart. Medium body, with a very nice dry/bitter/tart finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew, especially for the price. Recommended.

Amber/red color. Medium-sized, quickly disappearing, off-white head. Awesome aroma of fresh raspberries, wine, and funky yeasts. Sour, fruity taste with wood notes and wine-like finish.

This one is ok, maybe a bit too aged. Reddish brown color leaning brown, not very attractive with no head. Certainly tart but very much malty as well which is the side that probably hasn't aged the best. 2017 release. It's sort've as expected though. Definitely has deep malty aspects befitting of a Belgian brew. It's ok.

Bottle at Bottom Lounge
Well damn, I just can’t get away from Goose Island on this trip to Chicago. I started my Chicago beer adventure at GI, and I’ve had plenty of their stuff during/after the shows. I’m ending off Riot Fest with a Jeff Rosenstock aftershow here at Bottom Lounge and this long time want was calling my name. Let’s see if it was worth the wait
Pours a cloudy dark orange with a finger of off white head that very quickly fades to a thin ring and leaves no lacing
It’s definitely fruity tart in the nose, but there’s a nice funk to it too. I’m picking up on aromas of red wine vinegar, tart raspberry, rose, crabapple, bready malt, black cherry, and sharp oak
It’s a bit sweeter in taste, but there’s still nice levels of funk and fruit. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting tart raspberry, black cherry, honey, lemon juice, tannic red wine, light oak, and bready malt. The swallow brings notes of tannic red wine, black cherry, tart raspberry, brown sugar, wet hay, light leather, bready malt, and lemon zest
A medium body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a sharp beer. Finishes mostly dry with a bit of funk
Well, it’s nothing amazing like I may have dreamed it to be 4 years ago, but I’m happy to finally cross it off my list

2013 750 ml. bottle on sale 60% off. Seems like a good bet.
I waited until our Spring temperatures were in the nineties and I could enjoy a sour fruit wild ale.
Freeing the cap, there was a small crust of sediment on the underside. The beer is a translucent hazy brownish raspberry with one finger's fine white head, full surface cap and spotty lacing.
As soon as I removed the cap I smelled a strong raspberry aroma. After pouring I also smelled light bandaid, Brett funk, strawberries, and stone fruits.
Tastes are tart raspberry, red wine, strawberries, light lemon, wood, barnyard.
Good lasting carbonation. Sour, but not overpowering. Dry finish.
No evidence of oxidation or other symptoms of age. Very pleasant drinking and a good buy.

I found this in a vintage beer shop in Oregon a few months back. The beer is 46 degrees, and I used a tulip glass. The pour created a one-finger light tan/off-white head with terrible retention. No lacing was left on the glass after the quick dissipation. . The color is a cross between red and orange, but not. Lots of carbonation is visible through this clear beer. The appearance is not much to adore.
The aromas I detect are tart raspberries, funky barnyard, a touch of horse blanket, earthiness, toasted bread crust, a hint of floral, and some oakiness.
I taste tart raspberries, oak, floral, fruity esters, funky barnyard, straw, green herbal, earthiness, and toasted bread crust.
The mouthfeel is tart, acidic, and dry.
The body of the beer is light, has high carbonation, and has a lingering finish.
This beer is fantastic. Excellent bright and tarty flavors. I enjoyed this beer.

Red tinted in color with a pinkish head. Lots of fiz! Nose is sort of earthy tart and raspberry. Taste followed suit with the raspberry and did I mention TART!?

Effervescent yellow gives way to a vennacular sparkling peach, red roses to the surface. Pungent, over-ripe, raspberry occupies the nose. The tongue comes in low and light, turns sour, tart, completely falls off the back, and becomes a mist of perfume. In a word, Entertaining.

2015 bottling
Look: Very hazy amber with a lot of bubbles stuck to the sides of the glass. A tiny ring of off-white head with no retention.
Smell: The distinctive, strong sour and barnyard funk scent of brett. Raspberry smell is very tart with little hint of sweetness.
Taste: Very sour, but with a medicinal bitterness underneath. Frankly rather unpleasant.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and very highly carbonated.
Overall: It's hard to tell if this bottle has gone off or if this is merely how it tastes; other wild ales I've had have tasted similar.

Not bad for a 5 year old wild ale. The aroma is very fruit forward with tart raspberries and a hint of of the muskiness of cabernet wine. It finishes much like a dry wine but with hints of raspberry and hoppiness reminiscent of an IPA combined with a gose. Overall, it's great if you want to try something out of the ordinary and you have a fondness for dry red wine. Not a must try but worth a visit.

Bottled August 2015 almost 5 years young now this has held up amazingly well. 1/2 price sale at the coolest local beer store imaginable, I have got some incredible buys here, including tonight's 1/2 price 2018 version CBS, which I remember being much more coffee forward (and preferable) than 2019's way sweet maple forward.
Look is absolutely gorgeous raspberry color, couldn't be any prettier. Aroma and taste is fresh, fruit, wild, wood, tart, funk, sour, raspberry all day. Finishes very dry, maybe just a tad off very woodsy due to being 5 years old. Doesn't really detract, at all, from an wonderful, funky, sour, treat. Amazing beer, GI should make it again, not that they've done anything right, lately.
