Served into pint glass @ Goose Island, on-tap.
A: Pours an apple cider with a really thin white head that swirls and floats. Some lacing. Good color, but overall the appearance was not a good start.
S: You can smell the toasted malts, caramel, and hops. Some grain and spice can be sensed as well.
T: This was one of the more unique beers I have had. Its complex taste starts off tasting like a hoppy IPA and the aftertaste makes you believe it is stoutish with the malts coming through. You can taste some sweetness at the end. For me, this was a great combination of bitterness and nuttiness.
M: Good mouthfeel with good mouth coating and carbonation. Lighter bodied.
D: This was a unique beer. I will definitely be pursuing more of this beer.

Served on tap in a 16 fl.oz. pint glass, (Nov 17, 2009).
Eyes: Little head, light lacing, mild haze.
Nose: Impressive hop aroma makes it's way through the dominant malt. Strong bread smell with a good hop kick.
Tongue: Interesting combination of thick, bread malt followed by nice mild pine hop flavors. Toasty bread/yeast flavor dominates.
Mouth: Smooth and leaves no unpleasant aftertaste. Seems quite low in terms on IBUs.
Libation: The savory malt flavorful and the brew does seem to live up to it's "British style" claim. I'm not a huge fan of bitters, but this one is quite nice. Drinkable and goes down easy.

The menu describes this one as a "Best Bitter."
A: Served in a British pint glass with a good 1/2" of large bubbled, white head. Straight up gold with a slight haze to it. Not much lacing.
S: Biscuit malt. Flour. And "british-style hops" (I'm not sure exactly what hops go into the typical British Bitter or Pale, but this beer smells just like your stereotypical British beer.)
T & M: Heavy toasted bread flavor with some biscuit malt as well. Light, crisp, dry, and with a fleeting bitterness. On the lighter side of medium with medium carbonation.
D: A simple session beer. Good for what it is worth, but nothing spectacular.
