Brewed originally at our pub in 2008, we "forgot" about this lost barrel in our cellar and are unveiling it only for this special event. The roasted and spicy pepper notes of our black saison hide behind the funky Brett backbone and lactic sourness.

On-tap at Hopleaf during the Goose Island Beer Invasion, 5/26/2010.
Pours a opaque dark brown with a thin white head that quickly dissipated. Some head lingers along the edges, but no lacing.
Smell is moderately sour with no distinct characteristics at first. As it warms the aroma becomes more complex and reminds me of hay and being on a farm (without the dirty animal smell).
Taste is moderately sour and hard to make out any other flavors. The finish is a more intense sour flavor with some bitterness at times. The Brett really overpowers any saison qualities this beer has.
Medium body with low carbonation. Finish is crisp and somewhat dry.
Enjoyable, but after one glass it was time to move on to something without such a sour character.
