On tap at the Goose Island Tap Takeover at Market in Rocky River. After some detective work by Eddy, we have lift-off. Eddie Anderson from Goose Island played the role of Sherlock Homles-slice when a mix up occurred.
Goose Island Tripel is straw gold in color with little head and a clear complexion. It's a nice looking beer, very fitting look for an American take on the Belgian standard.
The beer smells of some light pepper, candy malt sweetness, and some clove and coriander. This is a wonderfully polished smell, not rough but very cohesive and the booze is extremely well hidden by the sweetness. Some orange and citrus rounds out a good nose.
Tripel has a ton of great spice, sweet belgian candy malt and a wonderful touch of coriander and clove. Really flavorful and expressive, the beer finishes sweet with medium to mild bitterness. A touch of orange peel and lemon in the finish seal the deal - this is a fantastic tasting beer.
The beer has lower carbonation but nice body. It is crisp and refreshing and has a great finish with just a touch of stickiness. This is very drinkable and enjoyable offering from Goose Island, thanks for bringing it out, Eddie!

On tap at GI-Clybourn
Pours 1/4 finger of white head. Color is a clear bright golden yellow.
Aroma: Grassy hops and a big spice flavor. Coriander and orange peel with some lemon zest. Also get some Belgian yeast.
Taste: More Belgian yeast and fruit flavors. Grapefruit, lemons, and oranges. Very spiced. Coriander and cloves here with a hint of crushed black pepper.
Mouthfeel: Crisp, smooth, and spiced. Medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. Ends dry and spiced (very Similar to the other GI Belgian beers).
Overall, a solid tripel, but a slow drinker. Reminded me a lot of the other Belgians from GI, but stronger with more distinct flavors.
