Another American attempt at a Tripel.

A - Orangish yellow colored beer with a small white head that left some spots on the side. Just a little bit hazy.

S - Some candied fruits and yeast. There's a bit of a green smell to it, maybe some hops or something. A little different.

T - Sweet, sugary, boring. It's like a boring Tripel. I mean, it is a boring Tripel. On the plus side it is not offensive.

M - Lighter bodied, smooth.

O - It's not great, but can get it down without complaints, other than it is boring. NOt something I would usually drink as any time they have this I'm probably sitting somewhere with a bunch of other options.

Served at the September Goose Island BA event in a taster glass.

A - Pours with a half-finger of late-rising white foam that settles to some haze and a thin ring, leaving behind some spotty lace. Hazy golden straw colored body.

S - Smells like tripel - fruity esters and spicy yeast character, as well as a bit of floral hop character. I don't think I could pick out the Oolong tea character without prompting.

T - Taste is a little bland. This is very sweet, with a fair bit of unfermented (candi?) sugar. Fairly yeasty, with perhaps a hint of tea in the background.

M - A little watery, with a touch of carbonation tingle. Medium bodied, with a sticky finish. Alcohol is well-hidden.

D - This was quite average. Not bad, but not particularly exciting either. Apparently the gimmicks of using two yeast strains and adding tea didn't do anything really interesting for a pedestrian base tripel.
