Our Small Batch series allows us to showcase our ability to express different nuances from the barrels we use in a variety of styles. For Small Batch #8, we brewed a classic Quad Ale and aged it in American rum barrels for 9 months. Expect notes of vanilla, brown sugar, banana, and almond in this classic style.

500 ml bottle into a goblet. Best by 8/4/24, had 8/23/24.

Pours a semi opaque, dark amber color, with a half inch foamy head and a fair amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of caramel, malt, some rum, plum, some fig, light almond. Fairly similar flavors, but a little more expansive: rum, caramel, malt, vanilla, some fig, light plum and almond, light oak. Smooth, a very good medium body, appropriately carbonated.

Overall, it’s pretty subtle but really good, with a good variety of aromas and flavors. The barrels are prominent, but not overdone. Very enjoyable.

Crowler pour with opaque dark brown and a tan head. Taste is an explosion of flavor: rum barrel raining down brown sugar, molasses, mild belgian yeast, vanilla, almond, and a hint of cola to go with quad malt, dark fruit, and warming booze. Fun new world take. The nose is so boozy in comparison, not striking the balance the taste has. Feel is very warm, thinner for style, but holds together impressively. Novel but actually good instead of being a gimmick

Released 8/19/22. "Best by 8/4/24"; drank 8/22/24 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dark brown/orange appearance.

An even pour yielded a nice khaki head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.

Apple cider, leather, rum & plum notes in the nose.

Medium thick, smooth mouthfeel.

Apple cider, leather & plum flavors up front; oak & mild rum heat on the finish.

Nicely balanced & flavorful; I'm not the biggest rum fan, but this was enjoyable. I'd have another!
