On tap at the Clybourn location. Was excited to see this Gold Medal winner.

Poured near-black with a really nice dark tan head. A few spots of lacing on the glass as well as a fairly-thick collar as the brew went down. The nose was really fantastic with a good dose of bourbon and chocolate as well as some vanilla meandering in the background. The bourbon character from the Elijah Craig is quite excellent. The taste doesn't hold back with really strong bourbon and chocolate notes, blended expertly in this brew without any real heat. Mouthfeel is fairly heavy and really smooth. Whatever booze is there fits in really well. Drinks really well. Very, very glad I was able to sample this. In Chicago at the right time.

Took the gold at FoBAB, aged in Elijah Craig barrels.

A - A nice black stout with two finger mocha head tha dissipated down to nothing.

S - Noticed the alchohol burn out of the ordinary. Deep chocolate nose with the bourbon nicely accentuating. Vanilla and barrel aging is present.

T - Tastes like a much bigger beer than it is. Big chocolate, nice smooth bourbon, as well as a great overlay of vanilla.

M - Quite smooth and full bodied.

D - At only 8%, this drinks like a much bigger beer, lowering the score. A definite sipper. Overall very solid, but BCS is still king in this line.
