Special keg for the January BA Gathering. Double dry-hopped with Centennial and Cascade. I would argue those choices make it "American" rather than English. Served in a pint-shaped taster glass.
A - Pours with two fingers of eggshell foam that settles to a thin cap, leaving behind lots of tiny spots of lace. Mostly transparent golden body.
S - Lots of fresh citrus zest, a touch of dankness and pine. Malt character is quite restrained - largely biscuit and fresh bread.
T - The taste is a bit more malt-forward with yeasty bread. Not as much overt hop flavor, although there is still a good amount of bitterness in the finish.
M - Medium-light body, moderate carbonation, sticky finish. Not as dry or enamel-melting as I like from an IPA.
D - I like the regular IPA quite a bit when it is fresh - I get the feeling most people get to try bottles/kegs that are months old. That being said, I wish they double-dry hopped all batches the IPA, as this stuff smelled terrific. This is the first BA gathering in a long time where the keg blew quickly - I must have gone back for 3-4 pours throughout the evening.
