Tried this on-tap at Public House. "Public House has collaborated with local brewery, Goose Island, to create its own Public "House" Brew. Changing monthly, the brew will incorporate ingredients & flavors which reflect the season in which it is brewed."
When I asked if this specific batch had a name or any information I was told it was IPA with a hefty dose of Amarillo hops.
A - Served with a finger of creamy foam that settles to a near-complete thin cap and glass-coating lace. Transparent light bronze body.
S - Extremely fresh and aggressive hop character, with plenty of orange zest, some pine, and a hint of chive spice. The malt backbone is crackery with a touch of yeast, but lies well in the periphery.
T - The taste is a pleasant mix of grapefruit, light bready malts, moderate hop bitterness, and a hint of yeast in the finish. Nothing crazy, but just a solid, well-crafted IPA.
M - Carbonation is medium-high, and perhaps a touch higher than I prefer. Medium body, dry finish, with plenty of residual sticky resinous character.
D - This was really easy to drink. My wife and I each had a pint and it was surprise highlight of the evening. Great session beer that strongly reminded me of the Double Dry Hopped IPA that John Laffler made for one of the BA monthly gatherings. In fact, it's got identical scores from me across the board.
