On-tap at GI Belgian Beer Fest. Served in a pint-shaped taster glass.
A - Pours with a half-finger of off-white foam that settles to a thick collar and wisps of haze, leaving behind spotty lace. The body is an attractive transparent bronze color.
S - Smells like cherry pie, complete with buttery crust. Definite lactic notes, but not as much acetic character as the Blackberry version. Bourbon flavor seems to have abated a bit, but it's still quite present.
T - Again, it's very easy to see the relationship with the base beer, as once one gets past the initial onslaught of cherry pie there is a heavy does of vanilla and butterscotch mid-palate. A bit of funk in there as well, but quite low on the dial.
M - Medium-low carbonation, sticky and slightly tannic, medium body, and some alcohol warmth is definitely present.
D - I think this is my favorite Dominique variant so far. The feel is improved over the blackberry version, and the cherries seem to cut a bit of intense barrel character of the base beer. Worth a go, but not in the upper tier of Goose sours.
