On-tap at Goose Island Clybourn. Served in an imperial pint glass.
A - A finger of tan foam settles to a thick collar and thin cap, leaving a few specks of lace behind. Very dark brown body.
S - Intensely roasted and burnt malts, earthy grains, a touch of semisweet chocolate, and a drizzle of caramel on a toasted biscuit once the beer approaches room temperature. The sweetness takes some time to emerge from the charry flavors.
T - The taste is again dominated by waves of burnt, charred, and heavily roasted grains, but finally yields to a touch of sweet chocolate in the finish. Smokey and somewhat acridly bitter aftertaste. There's a lot of flavor packed in here for only 5.8%.
M - Grainy, roasty, and slightly chalky texture, with zesty and mildly unpleasant carbonation burn. Hefty medium-full body, with a dry finish and minimal alcohol presence.
D - If you like burnt cookies or toast (or Mikkeller offerings) this beer is for you. It's a bit to ashy for my tastes and the aggressive carbonation doesn't help matters. Probably should have gone with the cask option.

Had a 1/2 of this at the Clybourn pub. Cask, 5.8% and received in a short pint.
4.0 A: Black color. One finger of creamy beige head. Good retention and a short ring of lacing.
3.5 S: Solidly roasty. Good amount of oats, a little less chocolate, and vanilla underneath. Not a flavor explosion, but solid.
3.5 T: Roast, chocolate, oats, light vanilla, and light caramel.
4.0 M: Lighter medium body. Good carbonation for cask. Good creaminess as well.
3.5 D: Solid and easy drinking, but I wish it had a bit more power.

Served in a British style pint glass. Full on opaque black. Not a shred of light getting through on this one. Small, creamy, and stable tan colored head leaves just a faint bit of lacing on the way down. Aroma is fairly light: coffee, roasted malts, and light notes of vanilla. Strong flavor of roasted malts, char, deeply roasted coffee, milk chocolate, cocoa, and a very light note of vanilla. Heavy, moderately thick body with lower carbonation and a dry, chalky mouthfeel to it. Not a whole lot of oatmeal character to this beer, but still quite enjoyable.

drank on-tap at the brew pub. as expected, it's opaque black in color, with a white collar of head. the smell is nice roasty coffee. the taste is all coffee as well, but that's all I taste. body is creamy and thick. drinkability is just average. will just the one-note coffee taste, below average drinkability

This is stout infused with the intelligensia gi house blended coffee beans. On tab at the brewpub into a snifter...A dark brown color with a light tan head, not particularly attractive, not much head or retention...The aroma and taste are essentially the same and I feel comfortable in lumping them in together, as this beer is a one noter. You might as well go buy a cup of coffee chill it to 40 degress and serve it without any cream or sugar. It is all light coffe, freshly brewed, its not a bad smell but just super boring. I'm not a coffee lover, but maybe a big coffee lover would love this. Its incredidly difficult to drink. Not anything that I would recommend even though you can drink this at 7.4% pretty easily.
