2/12/16 Chicago - ($6 16 oz draft pour into Nonic glass at Goose Island Brew Pub @ Clyborn). Pitch black body, light tan head. Very pleasant chocolate coffee and toffee aroma. Very strong coffee and chocolate taste. Nice blend. Very thin texture, no carbonation, easy drinking. Good offering!

Served in an imperial pint glass at the Clybourn brewpub.

I'm just a sucker for smoked porters. This one pours a deep black-brown topped by a finger of off-tan foam. The nose comprises cocoa, hickory smoke, mild roasted malts, and a touch of cola. The taste brings in more of the same, along with an added bit of light char for good measure. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a very nice smoked porter, one that makes good use of the beech-smoked malts without drowning out the other elements.
