A: Pours a dark caramel color with a nice off-white head.

S: Slightly muted tripel esters (vanilla, clove, peach), caramel and vanilla tannins. Barrel dominates the nose.

T: The whiskey dominates the flavor as well, with lots of sweet tannic flavors over a slightly fruity tripel base. Marshmallow, white grapes, rye, toffee, nectarine, slightly spicy.

M: Medium-bodied with light carbonation.

O: While the barrel comes through nicely, it covers up the base beer a bit too much.

On tap at GI Clybourn. Rittenhouse Rye Barrel aged Belgain Tripel

A - Dark golden copper color with no head. Thick body

S - Rittenhouse rye with slight fruit esters, caramel, light oak, and vanilla

T - Strong caramel, light orange peel, orange juice, light lemon peel, light oak, and raisins. The finish has light caramel and oak 4

MF - Thick body with light astringency from the fruit and oak that lingers on the finish

O - Solid fruity tripel with a good barrel presence that adds good sweet vanilla and caramel complexity. The Rittenhouse barrel is an interesting treatment for a Tripel
