Had this barrel-aged sahti at the N. Clybourn Ave. brewpub of Goose Island. Not sure if this is a rotating beer or a one-time brew. According to the beer menu it was one of the beers brewed on site.
A-Hazy, brownish orange in color with a thin film of a head.
S- I could literally smell the beer from a mile away. The aroma is huge on bourbon, and although it masks everything else, I found it very appealing.
T- The aroma translates literally in to the taste. Huge bourbon presence, that overwhelms almost everything else. Slight fruity notes try to appear in the middle, but are promptly slapped away by the bourbon.
M- Almost full-bodied and very smooth on the palate.
O- Overall, I think it is a pretty good beer. I would love to see a bottled version, that can be aged further to see how well it develops.
It was definitely worth a try and I would surely recommend this beer to those who enjoy barrel-aged beers.
