Served in a snifter at the Clybourn brewpub.
And here the Pre-Gold Box Excursion comes to an end. This is a barrel-aged blend of Baltic porter and oatmeal imperial stout, something that just sounded too good to pass up. It pours a straight obsidian topped by a half-finger of tan foam. The nose comprises roasted malts, oak, vanilla, buttercream, and light black cherry. Somehow that cherry note didn't hurt matters any. The taste brings in more of the same, with a distinct vein of whiskey and a pinch of dark chocolate powder added for the sake of it. The body is a hefty medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a chewy feel. Overall, a damn solid beer; I'm not sure if the parts are distinguishable from the whole, but it's a tasty whole regardless. Now on to the Cell...
