On nitro at Goose Island Clybourn. Poured into a Goose Island curved stout glass 3/4/2014.
App- Dark black body, with the nitrogen bubbles creating a thick two-finger white head with great retention as expected of a nitro stout. Thick lines of lacing. Looks on point.
Smell- A bit thin, but not unexpected for the style. Very roasty, some milk chocolate, earthy.
Flavour- A bit watery, but on point for the style. Roast malts shine well here despite the wateriness, with some milk chocolate sweetness. Not too bitter at all on the backend, just a little bit of earth.
Mouthfeel- Thin bodied, again on point for the style, super drinkable and makes for a great session beer. Somewhere in the middle between resinous and dry, but doesn't leave much on the backend so you can keep drinking it.
Overall- Nice session beer. I wish more brewpubs would do Irish Dry Stouts of this quality.. I've had some bad ones in the past that I would rather drink a Guinness Draught over them. And this is certainly a couple steps above Guinness Draught.
