Bottle shared at the December iteration of the Santa Cruz tasting series. Medium brown color, fizzy tan head. Chocolatey, light roast, somewhat metallic and dusty. Standard porter flavor, thin bodied and light. The metal note becomes distracting as time wears on. Typical brewpub fare.

Summer 2007- Purchased at a random gas station on the way back from camping last year.

Presentation- 1 Liter flip top bottle with no freshness info. Poured into a random pint glass.

Appearance- Middle of the road black in color. About a 3/4 inch head which fades soon after leaving light lace traces.

Smell- Random notes of smoke, peat, deep roasted malt and a tiny bit of chocolate. Nothing really sticks it's head out though.

Taste- Not sure if this is a baltic or regualr american porter. Seems mid range abv. Pretty deep roasted malt, mild chocolate flavor. Small notes of hops and a slight smokey character.

Mouthfeel- A bit high of a carbonation level and a touch thin. Not much aftertaste.

Drinkability- Interesting find. The label says the brewery is in Coloma rather than Placerville. Maybe they moved recently. At any rate it was $7.49 which was a bit high for the qulaity, but still worth a try. Maybe it's better on tap?
