Brewed using a cold-fermentation process to produce a nice clear, clean, crisp lagered stout.
Apropriate creamy head over a very dark body. A smoky aroma that also permiated the flavor. (Bamberg Malt? need to check with brewmaster Taz Pfefer. A rich flavorful stout with rich flavor. Benefits from quality German malts.
After our meal of Beer brats (loaded with sauerkrat and Grindstone Mustard on a bakery fresh hoagie roll) we toured the brewery with Brewmaster Taz and his brewing assistant Phil. They are rightfully proud of their brews and let us pretaste 3 or 4 that were almost out of fermentation or waiting for a empty serving tank.
Being a great lover of Dopplebocks, I latched onto a glass and quickly determined that it was outstanding and worth a follow up trip for more.
