Full pint poured by the expert staff at Grindstone Brewpub in Columbia, Mo. Outside the temperature is 102° with a heat index of 116°. The second beer of the day following a great Dopplebock. I broke the rule of drinking a lighter beer first. Clearing my palate with water, I removed the lemon slice and adminred the hazy clear light gold beer and watched a the 1 finger of head slowly faded to a thin cap supported by beading and a lace that persisted til the end. This Light offering was mildly aromatic (following a Dopplebock) a hopy grain mix. The firm medium mouthfeel was quiet surprizing. Chewing the beer for taste we guessed half of the hops and finally asked the brewer to learn both Cascade and Warrior were used. The finish of this Light was outstanding with a bitterness that was perfect. So much for the myth that we don't like Light Lagers! This would pair with almost anything on the menu from the Grouper Sandwich with red onions, tomatoes, and Grindstone Tarter Sauce on a corn-disted fresh kaiser roll- to the Meatloaf on a Ciabatta Roll with Grindstone Mustard and caramelized onions.
