On tap at Sonoma Chicken Coop on 7/20/09.
A - Clear dark amber/copper-colored body with slim off-white head that transformed into a flimsy patch, then disappeared completely, leaving no lacing. Virtually no carbonation either. Very nice coloration, though.
S - Requisite caramel and toffee notes right on the bat accompanied by a waft of alcohol. Light floral hops enter the picture, as well as a honey sweetness and touch of brown sugar and maple syrup.
T - Sweet and malty flavor with plenty of caramel, toffee and sugar sweetness. The sweetness is complemented by a light floral and perfumy hop character and fairly hefty alcohol presence.
M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Sweet with mild alcohol warmth on the palate. Mouthfeel is kind of chewy, actually. Finishes with a subtle hop bite on the tongue.
D - Solid Maibock within the guidelines of the style. While this one was a little syrupy and extra sweet, I found it to be pretty tasty and drinkable overall.
