Had this on tap at Piece Brewpub on 4/2/08 and served in a nonic pint glass.
A - dark and cloudy orange with a golden hue to it. The beer was rather hazy, leading to its cloudy appearance, and very little light shined through the beer. There was no head at all when brought out but it looked like it was cut more than that beer was incapable of one.
S - Orange and pine were the prominent notes that my nose caught wafting up from this brew. These hoppy flavors were dominant; however, I did notice a nice hint of sweet malt that gave the nose some complexity beyond straight hops.
T - In the taste, the same hops that dominated the nose dominated the flavor profile. First, there was an orange hops taste that came in and after that, the flavor turned to a big whiff of pine that gave the beer a bit of a bitter tinge to it. Despite the beer's name, I did not get too much hops in the aftertaste, as a hint of caramel malt came out of nowhere, right near the end, that prevented it from being all hops.
MF - medium body with a light stickiness to it. There was little carbonation so the beer was a bit dead and syrupy as it sat there hanging out in the mouth. The beer also was a bit bready and grainy in the mouth and I could almost describe the beer as chewy.
D - Overall, a good beer that packs a bit of a hop punch, especially for the ABV. It was easy to session as it is not too heavy nor alcoholic. I could see getting this at Piece again especially with the pizza they have.
