From 04/30/11 notes. Thanks to the guy in line in front of me at DLD while we were waiting to get bottles for sharing a growler of this one. He said it was the Oatmeal stout from Piece in Chicago so guessing this is the one. Poured into a SAVOR snifter.
a - Pours a very dark brown color with less than an inch of light tan head and moderate carbonation evident.
s - Smells of coffee, roasted malts, vanilla/cream, and chocolate. Mostly coffee up front.
t - Tastes of roasted malts, chocolate, and coffee again. Coffee up front.
m - Medium body and low to moderate carbonation.
o - Overall a pretty good oatmeal stout. Lots of coffee to it; something I would definitely try again.

Piece Brewery Roland the Headless Assistant Brewer - Oatmeal Stout served on tap
Appearance: Small head, good lacing. Dark brown in color.
Smell: Oatmeal and slight hop.
Taste: Strong oatmeal and hop flavor with a slight cocoa.
This isn't a typical oatmeal stout. There is a greater hops flavor than others I've had. It is thick, creamy, and very nicely brewed.

Draft. At Piece brewery in place of the Dark Bier. Good dark black pour, small amount of cream colored head. Subdued roasty aroma, malt and light coffee. Taste has the same roasted malts, with some chocolate. Pretty straight forward. A bit light bodied, did not get the usual creaminess in the mouthfeel or oat in the flavor. Finish with a nice little hop/coffee bitterness. A good drinkable stout though.
