Served in a nonic pint glass at the brewpub.
Sure, just shift the blame, why don'tcha? ... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear sienna-tawny topped by a finger of off-cream-white foam. The nose comprises light sourdough/rye bread (can't quite figure out which one it is this time), very light toffee, and a touch of caramel. The taste basically comes through identically, though I think a modicum more toffee comes through. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fairly dry finish. Overall, a generally solid alt, but one that's just kinda, for lack of a better word at the moment, boring to me. I'd drink another, but I wouldn't clamor for one by any stretch of the imagination.

A bottle left over after GABF judging and given to me as a reward for my volunteer efforts. Pours a finger of tan-brown head over a clear mahogany brown liquid. Smells earthy and floral noble hops with some grassiness. Brown malt and nutty with minimal roast and chocolate.
Tastes strongly of chocolate, toast, and nut from malts with balancing earthy noble hop flavor (tastes like tettnanger). Mildy grassy hop bitter with an even milder peppery zip. The acidity of this beer is a bit to sharp and it exposes a mineral and dry that goes beyond the higher-than-typical attenuation of an alt. Light in the mouth and carbonation is a bit too strong. Nice lingering bitterness and hop flavor. Surprisingly filling.

A - Poured a clear, brown with ruby highlights and a small, off-white head of foam. It left thin trails of lace on the glass.
S - It smelled very malty with caramel and bready notes.
T - It was malty sweet with caramel, toffee and sweet breads. There was a very subtle hop bitterness.
M - It was crisp, sharp and very smooth. A light to medium bodied lager with a clean finish.
O - This is a good alt. It goes great with a delicious pizza at Piece.

Imperial pint at Piece.
Saturated reddish copper body with bright clarity. A medium cap of foam that recedes after a few minutes, doesn't leave much lace just a bit of random flecks here and there.
Straight up toasted malt aroma, not much else, simple malt, bread crusts, clean. True to style for an Altbier.
Nutty multigrain bread, toasted almonds, vague floral hop. Light bodied but full of malty flavors. Dry and not sweet at all. Nails the style, simple yet flavorful. Simplicity is vastly underrated these days.
Great to see another fresh Altbier locally available, Iron Works is still my go-to, but this is a fine German-style session beer.

Piece Brewery It's Your Fault Alt served on tap
Appearance: Medium head with good lacing. The body is brownish amber.
Taste: warm and malty with nuts and slight hops. It is similar to an English ale.
This was enjoyable and would make a good session beer. It may not have been strong flavored, but it was well rounded.

Had on-tap at Piece. Reviewed from notes on 23 March 2010.
A: Clear dark honey color is the best way I can describe it. Not much head or lacing.
S: Mild hops with wheat and honey.
T: Just a hint of hops; not much else going on here.
M: Watery and not very robust. Not pleasant at all.
D: Its blandness does not make one want to have more.

I drank this from the tap into a shot glass from a tasting at the brewery.
It pours a redish color but it looked watery and clear with a light white head and minimal lacing.
It smelled hoppy with notes of wheat.
The taste was watery and bitter, it went down like water and not at all drinkable. Very bad effort.
Piece is very hit or miss.
