Brown ale aged in Templeton Rye barrels for 6 months.
Pours a hazy orange tinted brown with a finger worth of white head. Webby lacing.
The nose showcases the rye whiskey barrel very nicely. Vanilla and butterscotch are most fluent. Sweet smelling and quite inviting.
The taste is buttered up and full of whiskey offerings. Vanilla, oak, caramel and butterscotch are mostly noticed. There are some malty notes picked up but the barrel has really done a number on this one.
The mouthfeel is a bit thinner than other barrel-aged brews but I must keep in mind this is an upgraded brown ale, not a stout or barleywine. This isn't a negative characteristic but the thinner body makes it unusual.
Overall, great brew with great bourbon integration. Don't miss it.
