A bottle-conditioned beer, it comes in a brown 500ml bottle, it bears the BBE date of Sept. 05.
Appearance: served in a goblet, it pours a hazy, dark golden to honey-tea colour, with a rocky, foamy off-white beerhead consisting of both large and tiny bubbles, which is quite lasting and leaving uneven lace along the way. Abundant carbonation observed.
Smell: at the front some wheat-like acidic nose (a bit like mild lambic?!), faint aroma of sour banana, spicy note of clove and a little bit of coriander seed, mixed with some acidic note of wild yeastÂ…to me it smells more of the characteristics of Belgian Wit beer than German Hefe-weizen or Weiss bier.
Taste & Aftertaste: tangy taste of lemonade, clove (plus some unidentifiable spices) at the front, with satisfyingly warm aftertaste of wheat and a dryish, tangy but very pleasant light, fruity kick-back at the back of the tongue.
Mouthfeel & Drinkability: overall the mouthfeel is dry and quite intensive against the medium-flavour and very light body. However, it has neither the roundness which German Weiss bier tends to bring out nor the more spicy characters Belgian Blanc has to offer. Having said that, this beer is still a pleasantly interesting brew in its own right.
