A Golden Wheat, pleasing.
S Light, citrus, some floral
T Flavorful light beer, easy going down. More interesting things going on that just an average Wheat.
M Just fine. Not remarkable but that is one of the great things about this beer.
D I could easily drink several of these.

Sample At the brewpub. No aroma. Golden colour without lace or head. Thin mouthfeel, above-average carbonation. Perhaps at the end of the barrel, some wheat and minimal hop, a bit apple juicey, drying. 12 ibu. Fairly minimal beer, but could have been worse.

Pours a shade darker than golden and a little haze with a thin white cap. Floral hops dominate the nose with some bready notes lingering about. Medium to high carbonation and a watery and dry mouthfeel. Flavors consist of straw, grains, light wheat characters, faint pithy lemon, and undertones of bread and yeast. Grassy notes and bitterness towards the end of the sip and makes up most of the finish. Wheat characters are very mild and even nonexistent at times and is more convincing as a pilsner with its thin body.

Sample at the brewpub: Pale golden-yellow color with an ultra-thin white head and speckles of lace. Fairly wheaty aroma with a bit of earthy malt. Light, clean body with a mild wheat and hops flavor that doesn’t really pack any punch. The finish is short and does not leave much of an aftertaste aside from some residual wheat flavor. Pretty much the standard "Light" offering that most brewpubs carry.

Served as a sample at Willoughby Brewing Company. The color was copper, with little head. The smell was a strong wheatiness. The taste was a strong clove-ish wheatiness, with a slightly bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel was fairly uncarbonated for a hefe. As for drinkability, maybe have a couple.

One of the better regular offerings they had at Willoughby, which I'm afraid isn't saying a lot. A servicable beer...not something I'd drive all the way for, but if it was around, I might consider it.

This wheat beer had a rather peculiar amber coloring...maybe I'm used to lighter wheat beers. It also appeared to be somewhat flat at the surface, despite active carbonation apparent through the sides of the glass. Somewhat strange appearance, but it still looked nice. Traces of wheat complemented the Saaz hops for a pretty good, sharp smell. The taste was full, with wheat and sweeter malt backbone. The sharp hops also made for a nice balance. The lighter body made this very appropriate for a weizen, great for the warmer weather. Willoughby's standard wheat beer was very easy-drinking and quite refreshing. Not a spectacular wheat, but definitely above average.
