This mild ale had a dark amber color, with a fluffy head that retained pretty well. The impressive appearance was capped by some nice tight lacing on the glass. The smell consisted of light malt, with faint hop addition. While the smell was pleasant, it was a little weaker than I expected. True to its name, the Abbott's mild was only somewhat bitter, and went down smoothly; a rather lager-like ale in many respects. The mouthfeel was good, too, with a medium body and a slick feel on the tongue. Overall, Abbott's Mill Mild was interesting, inviting, refreshing, and very drinkable. One of the highlights of my visit to Willoughby's.
