I found this beer to be fairly average. There was nothing wrong with it; but nothing really right with it either. In spite of the name I found the color to be appropriate for a Scottish Ale (the advertised varietal). It was a deep copper color with a poor head but nice lacing on the glass.

The taste was a bit hoppy and true to the variety but I kept waiting for something more. The taste was not as forward as I think a Scottish Ale should be and the aftertaste was non existent.

Your time might be better spent with something else from their beer menu.

had on tap at Willoughby Brewing Company during the summer

a: deep brown color, almost but not quite black. Frothly 1/4" head. Reduced to medium lacing

s: nut and hops

t: hop bitterness balanced with nut and grain, nothing too exciting

m&d: full body beer with light carbonation. Leaves a dry mouth feel, definatly not a session beer

Better stuff available a Willoughby
