Served on tap at the brewery a few hours ago into a clean, clear pint glass. $2.50 at Happy Hour. Nice price.
A Dark, dark brown body that I could really not see through. Nice creamy head that lasted the whole beer but did not leave much lacing. Head was a light brown.
S Light bourbon and vanilla smells along with dark malt smell (which is never very strong anyhow). Inviting, interesting.
T Vanilla, bourbon, sweetness, maybe some coffee notes over a dark roast backdrop. Vanilla extract taste was too obvious.
M This is a big tasting beer even if the ABV did not call for it. Could be smoother and it has a bit of a bite (from the bourbon?)
D Fair. On target for a Porter.
Notes: Vanilla extract taste was too much to the point of distraction. This is a porter which, in my opinion, is too thin.
