Many thanks to my friend for sharing his growler of this with me. Willoughby took a few gallons of a batch of their Russian Imperial Stout, oak aged it and put in in a few kegs. Pretty small and limited batch from what I understand. This is the first time they have done this with this particular beer. Poured into my snifter, this beer is a very dark brown color. Nice brown/tan head is about an inch thick when poured, settling to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass. Spotty lacing. Aromas of dark roasted oak and malts along with hints of coffee and chocolate. Flavors of Sweet roasted malt, alcohol, a hint of dark fruit and coffee and chocolate, along with some oak of course. This beer has a crisp, smooth and full bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Dangerously drinkable, especially as it starts to warm, for a beer of this caliber.
