This time, it was just bad. Doesn't smell like anything. Taste? No not really (even if it reminds me of the « Diet Coca-Cola » ?). Some bitterness but not enough for me... The mouthfeel is flaccid. It seems to me that they have decided to focus on their restaurant instead of their brewery. I would say that this is a very annoying beer. According to some people, Le Sergent Recruteur used to makes great brews! Now, they are only doing good pizzas!

Appearance: Black death in a glass, my head was clingy but wasn't very thick or long-lasting.

Smell: Freshly ground coffee, with a burnt, ashy character and green leaf hop end on the nose.

Taste: Plenty of coffee grinds in the taste as well, the scorched taste getting annoying and stale after a while. Half a pint was more than enough for me.

Black with ruby highlights, this beer was topped with a dense tan head that fell fairly fast, but produced lots of lacing. Roasted and dark chocolate maltiness with light hops and a bit of sharpness. Moderate bitterness provided by hops and roasted malts. Just a bit of coffee and some bitter chocolate with light hoppiness. It had a medium length finish dominated by dry, roasted bitterness. Decent texture, low astringency. Tasty, roasted and balanced. This one would be quite good as a session. Too bad I didn't stay long enough to really find out.
