Light copper color, with a slight haze. Foamy head with streak lacing. Aroma is herbal and citrus with some bread malt. Flavor is NW style, pine and grapefruit, grass and herbs. Earthy qualities as well. Bold hops flavor and bitterness. Enough malt presence to smooth it out and give it some character. Dry finish, with a resinous mouthfeel. A decent beer overall.

Pours a reddish color with a very fluffy white head. A bit hazy, with no translucency. Pretty nice look.
Smell is dominated by malt and citrus with faint hints of pine. This is a balanced aroma.
There is a really nice malt flavor and backbone to this brew. It a also has a full and biting citrus hop presence to go along with a floral and Pitney finish. Nothing over the top here, but it has impressive balance. Very drinkable.
Malt makes this a pretty full-bodied IPA. Moderate carbonation and good hop presence.
Overall, this is a flavorful, balanced, and pretty nice representation of the style. It packs a bit of a punch and is an enjoyable beer to drink.

Poured quickly into a pint glass from a growler brought to me by my nephew and his wife, who braved 13 hours on snowy roads to bring it to me. Wonderful people!
Beautiful dark orange color, with a one inch head quickly shrinking to ΒΌ inch. Nice lacing on the glass after each swallow. Not a lot of aroma, but the flavor is a nice Northwest style IPA, a lot like my grandpa's marmalade (Seville orange), and it puckers the sides of my tongue and upper palate. It reminds me of Hop Nosh, one of my favorite IPAs, but I like this better (I poured a Hop Notch and have them side by side). This Notch 8 is a little heavier and darker. It is a little sticky, but not sticky-sweet! Resinous. My mouth is practically vibrating. I feel fortunate and loved to have been able to drink this. A truly fine Northwest craft beer. I would rate it higher, but it does not have the nose of the Hop Nosh ( ex Notch).

Dark orangey amber color is handsome, with just a few swirls of foam in the Kasteel chalice. Lovely powerful aroma of grapes and mango. A whiff of pine.
This tastes very dark and toasty. The hop mix is intense. Grapefruit peel flavor with a very bitter aftertaste. Winey mouthfeel with a sharp acidity. Tastes stronger than it is, like a DIPA on the drier side.. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Elizabeth Station in Bellingham.

Pours two fingers of head on a clear medium straw body.
The aroma is lemon, grapefruit, orange and a little pine. Nice.
The taste is big and bold bitterness from the start, a mellowing malt middle but finishes with strong bitterness.
The texture is crisp and thick.
Great balance and super bitter.
