a clean and fresh new ipa from these guys, brewed with a now classic hop combination of citra, simcoe, and mosaic, nothing unique about it all, its just good ipa, and in this day and age, where things like milk sugar and four dry hoppings are all the rage, i appreciate a more refined and familiar take on the style. on tap at the brewery downtown, this is delicious. it has great clarity, just a little brassy color to it, a short white head, and an aroma driven by mosaic, with light pineapple and fresh citrus notes, some pine and oily bitterness in the back too from the simcoe, a touch sweet from the malt when i taste it, but just enough for it to be balanced against all the hops. its poppy and bright in taste, orange and pineapple and spruce, with a biscuity pale malt character and a flavorless but efficient ale yeast. carbonation is just a little under where id like it to be, but this is still an easy drinker. the hops are awesome, the beer is well refined, and its not trying to track down the trends. this would have been hype worthy years ago...
