Appearance: Served up a clear, though quite dark amber-hued body with a thinnish, but lasting, white head.
Smell: Pale malts, some inclusion of toasted bread and a sweetish caramel glaze paired with light notes of citrus fruit and herbs.
Taste: A common start of pale, toasty, and caramel-minded maltiness. Medium-light sweetness throughout. Woodsy, lightly floral, lightly citrusy hops and bitterness. There's a growing herbal, tea-like hint in the background. Bittersweet finish with a lingering spiciness.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It's pretty good, fairly drinkable, and likable for an amber.

reviewed from notes from a long night of tasting in asheville a while back. served from the tap into a pint glass.
The pour was decent enough, a nice reddish amber color coming through on the pout rather nicely. Clear, with a good amount of carbonation coming up from the bottom of the glass, which combined in the top to form a nice half inch layer of white foam that hung around for the rest of the session.
Aroma was deep caramel malts, much as you would expect. Hints of herbal grass like smells, and a touch of grain all coming together very nicely to form what I could only describe as you fairly typical red ale. The flavor carried more of this as well. Nice touches of caramel malts, hints of a somewhat bready base, and just the lightest touch of hops to finish it out was about all you were getting out of this one. Decent feel, though I have to admit it could have come off just a touch smoother in the end, still though quite drinkable.
Overall not a bad little ale, not the best thing, but a solid effort none the less. I would not have an issue with trying this one again in the future.

I sampled a pint the other day while enjoying their great pizza. To me this beer appears more like a light pale ale with some dark grains for coloring. The body was rather light, hop aroma was missing quite a bit for an amber ale and overall the taste wasn't there. Mouthfeel was light as already mentioned but at least a bit dry. I probably would have tryed another 2-3 because it is a smooth beer but decided to try a different one of their own instead.
