brown, with a touch of a ruby tone filled up the glass rather quickly. A smallish head was lifted up onto the top, but this was quickly replaced by a thin layer of film across the top.
rich and sweet. Predominant aroma was a caramel with a touch of an earthy malt. A light feeling was released by this, so you really did not think you were going into anything too terribly heavy. As it warmed you could pick up a roasted or burnt smell coming though, easy drinking brown ale. Very good feel made this an easy drinker. Decent carbonation allowed you to be able to explore the flavors as they hit the palate. Did not come off too thin or too thick, just about right. Biggest flavor right off the bat was a caramel that you caught right up front along with a burnt or roasted wood flavor. Some hoppiness in the finish, but nothing distracting from the primary notes. A good solid brown ale flavor as best as I can describe it. Finish was a little nutty and dry.

Appearance: Pours a clear, medium brown body with a slight, slender white head.
Smell: A nose of bread, barley, and a dusting of cocoa powder backed ever so slightly by hints of dried herbs.
Taste: Lightly sweet, toasty malts, with some herbal hop tones akin to a brewed cup of tea. Then, some late-arriving sweetish hints of caramel and cocoa. Very, very minor touch of citrus fruit. Lightly bitter. Drying, but elements of the darker malts leaning towards cocoa on the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It's okay, decent for a light, earthy brown ale.

Had at the brewpub while in Asheville. Served from tap into a sampler shaker. Poured a light red-orange with a half finger off-white head that subsided to a minimal amount slowly. Maintained nice lacing throughout the glass. The aroma was comprised of sweet malt, roasted malt, pecan, and slight nutmeg. The flavor was of sweet malt, roasted malt, nutmeg, and pecans. It had a medium feel on the palate with mild carbonation. Overall this was a nice brew. It was very light and quite drinkable. The pecan flavor I picked up on this one was actually quite pleasant. This was probably the highlight/most surprising brew I had while at the brewpub that day. A definite must try if you go to the brewpub as it was their best offering to me.
