Hope this is the right place for this review. All I know is that I had the Mad Anthony Red Ale, so one could assume as much ...
I was crippled with the realization that MA had taken off their stellar IPA to include a British style XXX Pale Ale and a Summer Wheat. GRRR. You uncultured Fort Wayne bastards, cannot you realize when you have a good thing going?
In all seriousness, this Red Ale was another home-run from a brewery I feel is very hit and miss. I'm usually not a big amber/red ale fan but when the waitress suggested this beer, alerting me to the fact that it laid in between the brewery's Pale and now-drained IPA, I had to give it a shot.
True to its name, the color was a nice scarlett with a small head that kicked up nicey upon agitation. A spectacular lace was also found as I drank, following me down in a notching pattern.
The nose was very citrusy. Maybe even more so than the IPA. The freshness of the hop character could not be overstated. The malts were a little neglected for the style, but I could care less. (hophead)
Like most MA brews, pretty watered down, but the fresh-as-possible hoppiness kept me lapping down these pints all night.

Draft. This Amber Ale poured a small tan head with small bubbles. There was decent lacing on the sides of my glass with this brew. The hue was brown and a bitter taste was observed. The aroma was a malt aroma and this brew had a lingering aftertaste to it in my opinion.

This brew poured a very small head (note was served this on draft so they probably tried to make the head small) of white bubbles and a a transparent brown body. It had a mild malt aroma. Its mouthfeel was slightly fizzy at the start then smoothed in the finish. It had a slight inital hop bite and a flavor of spices and malt.
