I've been coming to Block Island since I was born, but only turned 21 and began my adventure into craft beer in the last couple years. I've only every tried their "Black Buck Stout" aside from this beer and can't quite remember it. I typed out a couple notes on the IPA as soon as I was done with my meal (which was fantastic!).
Appearance - Slightly hazy reddish brown. Good lacing.
Smell - Caramel sweetness. Citrus fruits.
Taste - Mix of citrus fruit and caramel up front. Biter finish with some lingering caramel sweetness hanging in the balance. Simple and pleasant. Good deal of flavor without being over the top.
Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied. Smooth with a mouth-coating stickiness.
Drinkability - Has all the makings of an easy drinking and flavorful IPA. Unsure of the ABV, but I'm guessing somewhere between 5-6%. Good citrus hop twang combined with simple caramel sweetness give this IPA great drinkability. I paired this with blackened mahi mahi with a mango glaze and would gladly have stayed for a couple more pints after dinner.
