Poured on-tap and served in a tumbler pint, the beer is a deep, ruby-brown coloring with a thin, off-white head. Chocolate and hazelnut on the nose, with both a sweet and smooth character. Flavors of caramel and chocolate on the initial palate, both sweet and light on a darkly roasted backbone. Smooth and light in mouth. The aftertaste of caramel is almost like a liquid Caramello bar. Smooth and slightly dry finish brings a nice, tasty end to a solid brew.

On tap at Coddington's. I am a fan of big porters. This one arrived in a pint glass with a small off-white head. Very dark black color. Aroma was of chocolate, roasted coffee and molasses. First impression was a good one. Rolling in for the taste...very good but a bit light for my likings. Don't get me wrong, this is a really good beer but I like a porter you can chew on.

I'm a big fan of Coddington Brew Co. It is a shame the chocolate porter is only available as a seasonal brew. It appears to be an average porter dark in color with little head retention. Now that I've joined the club, its hard to see the color through my ceramic mug. Lightly carbonated. It has a slight roasted nutty taste. The mouth feel is light and has a dark chocolatey taste. Not as much of a hop character as I would like. But this makes the beverage easy to drink. It is crisp and finishes unbelievably dry. I'll have a pint with my app, a pint with my meal and a pint with dessert.

I was driving past it today and stopped by for a growler on a whim. I'm gonna have to start making planned trips to try more of their beer. The beer popured darker than what I was expecting, but not so dark as vaing the "thick" look of a stout. There was a thin head, which disappeared with only remnants circing the rim of the glass. A spottly lace formed on the glass. The aroma is only slightly chocolate and coffee. But the flavor comes through even stronger with the chocolate. The coffee disappears and is replaced by a more dominant smoky taste. But the best quality is how smooth the beer is and how easy it is to drink.

This porter had a good thich foamy head. Seriously dark brown body. In a less that brightly lit bar it almost appear to be a stout. Aroma was to me unmistakebly chocolate. One of the few times I've had a beer called chocolate anything and as soon as I smelled thought "mmm chocolate". The chocolate theme continues in the taste and finishes with a nice roasted malt bitterness.

Half gallon growler to go.
Very dark brown, with reddish highlights. Thin, but dense looking, tan head. Lively carbonation pokes through.
Rich & inviting aromas of coffee & chocolate.
Chocolate, coffee, & somewhat nutty. Plenty of sweet caramel flavour on the front end. Ends with a pleasant bitterness. More coffe flavour than chocolate.
On the thin side of medium bodied, with brisk carbonation.
