Went to the Coddington Brewery while on vacation in Rhode Island.
The Irish beer was brought in a pint glass. It was deep, dark beer with ruby accents. There was 1 finger's width of creamy head. The beer had a strong crisp taste of coffee. There were subtle hints of chocolate and hops and a bitterness that would not leave the taste buds. There was a strong smell of malt and coffee. There was mild carbonation and I was suprised by the water feel of this beer. It was by far the lightest bodied beer I have tasted from this group of beers.

I think this locally brewed dry stout is better than Guinness.

On nitro-tap 9/26/09 at the brewpub, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

Looks like a Guinness after the pour but way lower ABV @ 3.2%. On the positive side, it doesn't taste overly watery like a Guinness. Also I agree with the following from TheManiacalOne's review.

A: The beer is a deep black color, with a short dense beige head that fades very slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is of milk chocolate and dark roasted malts, as you would expect.

T: The taste is creamy and very malty, again as you would expect, with flavors of milk chocolate and coffee. There's a very mild hops presence, but it's on-target with the style. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and very smooth, medium-to-heavy body, light carbonation, finish is very dry but slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, slightly filling, very mild kick, good representation of style, I don't normally go for this type of beer but this is one of the better Irish Dry Stout's that I've had.

Had on tap on 4/13/20009. Served in a standard pint glass. Poured a dark brown, almost black, with no light penetration. Two inch thick, tan-colored head with excellent retention and thick sheets of lacing during the session. Lots of roasted character in the nose, as well as a suggestion of chocolate malt and coffee. Taste follows nose, but also a slightly dry, char at the finish. Mouthfeel feel between light- and medium-bodied with minimal, but consistent background carbonation. Maybe a little closer to an American Stout than an Irish dry, but really tasty and easy drinking at 3.5% abv.

On tap at the Coddington Brew Pub.

Poured a dark brown color, with red edges, and an averaged sized tan head. Aromas of stronger roastiness, chocolate and coffee. Tastes of the same roastiness with a coffee finish. Light lacing left on the glass.

Not a bad stout but not my favorite. Poured dark blackish ruby color with a nice tan cream head. The head did not last to long but the after taste did. Rather smokey, roasted malt, coffeeish flavor. Nice lacing of the glass for not a lot of head. Clean start and good mouth feel. Enjoyable to drink but not the top on my list. Overall not a bad stout had good stout characteristics. Drinkable and smooth but not the greatest stout I have ever had.

On-tap at the brewpub.

Nice red/black body and tan head. Looks good, but head retention falls short. Smells of roasted barley and coffee. Roast coffee dominates the flavor. Some bitterness in the back. Not complex flavor, but for 3.5% beer I'm impressed. Great session beer..

Sweet--almost milky--but with a very dry tongue and finish. And a bit of a nasty sour aftertaste. The beer was not quite midnight black and had a thin in density but very thick head on top. lace rimmed the glass. The aroma was very earthy and mossy. The taste was at first milky and sweet, but had a decent enough dryness and hop balance at the end. The beer was very full flavored upon the first sip, but left a dryness on the tongue. The beer was all-around decent enough, but it had an off (sour) after taste that left me with zero desire for another beer.

Nitro-tap, presented in a shaker pint.

Opaque pitch black liquid, with a creamy looking 1/4" of dense beige foam capping it off.

Nose is full of rich roast coffe aromas, very inviting.

Initially quite sweet. Dark chocolate and a hint of dark fruit swirl around. Big blast of astringent roast flavour that dries the whole thing out. Finishes quickly with a pleasant espresso flavour that lingers for a moment and makes you want more. Medium bodied, creamy smooth.

This stout has a creamy, white head. It is dark brown to black and is quite smooth and medium bodied. It's not heavy and has a strong coffee scent and flavor. Our server told us it was added for St. Patrick's Day, but I don't know if it's going to be a seasonal or limited in availability as it wasn't listed amongst the regular pours.
