Had this on tap at the Brewery on 1/9/2009. So good I brought a growler home. Served in a standard pint glass. Poured one shade shy of black with a dense, tan-colored head that settled into a fairly consistent skim embedded with tiny bubbles. Only a few specks of lacing present during the tasting. Nose was roasty, sweet toffee. Taste consistent with nose, but picked up a sweet lactose character at the finish. Mouthfeel fell between light and medium with a tingly effervescence and a light burn at the finish. Really easy drinking and sessionable. While I didn't rate the tap offering, the major difference was that off the tap, I found the brew a little less sweet, with more of a roasted character. Excellent offering. Looking forward to trying more of their beers.
