had a wood aged version of this at their wine, barleywine, and kinda wine event they did last week. this is another special strong ale from these guys, who seem to do them better than just about anything else. its basically barleywine, just with a real high percentage of malted wheat in the mash. its got a ton of body and a slight tannic property from the wheat, a thick cloudy appearance, and a lot of carbonation for an aged strong ale, these usually look sort of flat after awhile, but this one stays lively, awesome. lots of vanilla and wood on the nose, honey, white wheat, and a slightly oxidized property that works with the style and brings a high gravity english type yeast strain into the equation. the flavor matches, lots of vanilla and honey to this, tons of thick body, almost sludgy in feel, a dusty yeasty property, some warming alcohol and residual sweetness at the end. its a slow sipper, but a unique and satisfying one. i really enjoyed a small pour of this, but probably couldnt handle much more of it in a single sitting. super mature, woody, and delicious take on the style. i have a lot of respect for the beers these cats make, especially the strong ales! probably still on tap at the brewpub...

Beige head with a lot of lace. Color is a darker copper cold.
Flavor profile: wheat and spice. Some bananas and cloves. Bready malts. A touch of alcohol.
Mouthfeel: smooth and creamy. Medium bodied. Decent carbonation. Ends a little dry.
Overall, decent wheat wine that's pretty drinkable. The alcohol shows a little with this one, but other than that solid.
