L-Dark copper colored...light white head..

S-Rich breadiness...some nutty notes..

T- Melanoidin rich bready malts....light spiciness...also hints of pistachio nuts..

F-Rich, rounded and full bodied...sweet and borders on cloying. You can tell the ABV is jacked up on this one.

O-Reminds of their maibock which is outstanding. This one lacks the toasted malts I enjoy but has a real rich bready melanoidin maltiness. A little boozy for the style but an enjoyable beer.

L: pours bright to brilliant amber with an orange tint producing a 1" cap with moderate to poor retention

S: You can detect malt aromas from 2 feet away with bread crumb, light toast, and clean fermentation aromas with malt dominant. No discernible hop aroma

T: The palate starts sweet with bread crumb, bread crust and light malt flavors growing across the tongue, finishing slightly drier with a moderate hop bitterness

F: medium body and carbonation

O: This is a good, drinkable Märzen

who makes an 8% abv oktoberfest and doesnt tell anyone about it?! man oh man, in the pint cans too, this one really snuck up on me. nothing about the packaging or the name or anything suggests it would be as strong as it is, and i didnt investigate too closely the can, assuming it would be modest in strength like almost every other marzen out there, but nope, these guys have done it up big. the cool thing though, is that its not just big for the sake of being big, it drinks easy, hides it well, and has a wonderful depth of flavor, offering something a little different. its nutty and sweet on the malt side, nicely layered, richer than many, and not monotonous with the malt. the lager yeast is mild but classic in its taste, and it dries the beer out nicely in the finish. its carbonated above and beyond, fully effervescent which also tricks me into thinking its light and drinking it quickly. earthy almost squash-like sweetness for a moment, a blast of maple, almond, and straw, lots of autumn nuance here. among my favorite beers i have had from these guys, this was a really nice surprise! one of the better oktoberfests of the year so far for me.
