Served on tap, this pours an opaque amber color with a small white head and a small amount of lacing on the glass. The smell is fruity and malty. The taste is smooth with orange and apricot overtones, along with a bready malt flavor. There is a scant hop taste, just enough to balance this ale nicely. So many of Barley John's brews are high in alcohol. It's nice to find one that is more moderate in alcohol content, and tasty to boot. Well done!
