I split a pitcher with a couple friends at the brewpub and it wasn't enough. This beer is great and we needed more. It does appear darker, with more of an amber Oktoberfest look, and there's also a bit of caramel flavor where you'd usually have fruitier esters. But there's still a base, grainy cracker malt taste and earthy finishing hops. This is all great, but it's the keller character. There's a hint of classic German beer sulfur in the aroma and soft mineral subtle herbal notes to complement the hops. Go to Barley John's now and drink this beer.
