Rich, dark version of the German Hefeweizen with a more complex taste involving hints of chocolate and dark malty sweetness.

Sampled from a growler. Poured a rich dark copper color with decent clarity and a good foam up top. Decent lacing as well. The aroma is sweet with a mostly brown sugar nose. Limited amount of wheat are present as well as a somewhat burnt lingering smell.

The taste was down to style. There as a rich smooth malt flavor that flirted with chocolate and some complexity with a wheat afterglow. A richer full bodied flavor that had some nice sweetness and a touch of a rye flavor at the end. There is a light phenolic blush that finishes well. There are some notes of DMS and a touch of saltiness as well.

The body was good and the flavor came out nicely. Some off flavors here and there but overall a good beer.

This beer is not the thirst quencher I should have gotten when I walked in, it was 103* outside. Served on tap the beer's appearance was medium to dark brown with a touch of red and a slightly hazy, the head dissipated quickly.
The smell was sweet and malty... the hops were not really present at all.
The beer tasted just like it smelled, fairly sweet, malty with little to no hops. It was a little heavier than I expected on the mouthfeel, maybe my toung was week from thirst. Over all this was a drinkable beer, but I think I would sample the others before committing myself to this brew.
