Poured from growler into snifter. Bottled July 15, 2014.
A: Pours a dark straw-brown with mild carbonation producing a 1/2 inch light tan head that quickly dissipates. (4)
S: Sweet caramel malt and bready yeast. (3.5)
T: Sweet caramel malt, bourbon booze, with mild hops in the background. One day after opening, this one actually is a bit better. The wheat notes, banana, and clove are much stronger. (4)
M: Moderately heavy body. Sweet and fairly oily feel. Mildly bitter finish with fairly strong booze burn (vanilla and bourbon here). The ABV is actually hidden a bit...drinks lighter than the strong 11.5% that it is. (4.25)
D: A definite sipper. A nice example of style. Fitger's did a nice job with this one. I'd recommend saving some for the next day...it actually gets better. (4)

Sampled at ABR. Fitger's definitely brought their A game to the fest.
This beer is how I expected wheatwines to taste like even before I had my first; I ended up drinking Nemesis 2009 instead. But, whatever.
This is a wheat beer first and a barrel aged strong ale later. Looks hazy gold-amber, with clove and esters jumping at ya. Tastes juicy and fruity with barrels only in the backdrop (I wish they were heavier). There's a very bold and delicious maltiness to the taste, and the beer is very sweet. At the same time, it is amazing how clean it finishes. Body is thick and sticky almost. I dug it and I am glad I got to try it!
