Originally reviewed May 19, 2005. On tap at the brewpub. Deep brown, very murky, like a settled mud puddle or a raging Northshore stream in the spring runoff. Color of amber burnt sienna, topped with a 2 finger head of fading espresso foam head. Deep complex wheat aroma, with nuts, lemon, coriander and avocado; somewhat weak, unfortunately. Flavor starts very watery, but grows slightly to a full and dark rich wheatness. Tart and a little sour. Not many esters or strong fruit notes, like I would expect. Finish is very crisp and clean, but not appealing. Sugar on the back end. Aftertaste of slight roasted brazil nuts and sour pears. A little too sour and a little too bland and watery too be an astounding wheat.

A very interesting and tasty wheat ale..pours a nice cloudy brown color...nose is overripe bananas...some vanilla....a slighty nutty scent as well..great nose right up there with Aventinus...
Body is medium and easy drinking...lower carbonation but it's coming from a growler...reminds me a lot of a dunkel weizen in taste....good cocoa and bananas...slight vanilla notes...finishes with an ever so slight slight tartness...almost a little lemony on the finish....
Quite a nice brew....nice to see someone using some creativity on a wheat beer....Apparently used 10 different types of wheat from all over the world and a German Hefe yeast which is where the wonderfull banana notes come from...
