A - Light brown color. Head faded to about an eighth inch. Average lacing.

S - Smell was very much like a Hefeweizen, very wheaty with banana notes. But there was also faint notes of rich caramel-y malts.

T - Taste was very much like the smell. There was also a taste almost like cinnamon sugar present as well. Sweet but not too sweet.

M - Mouthfeel was very smooth with litte carbonation. Rich and filling.

D - Good representation of the Weizenbock style, combining both the wheat and bock styles very nicely (obviously). And a good combination at that. Very good beer.

Originally reviewed on March 17, 2006. On tap at the brewpub. Dark borwn murkied maple pour with a fringe of sienna and a head of creamy tan. Strong woody caramel kettle corn aroma with a real earthy, almost wild mushroom like glow. Grainy wildness. Maillard rules this beer. Many caramelized sugars in it. Flavor is densely sugary, with plums and a depth of grain and more roasted caramel corn. A hint of bananas and figs, like warm pecan bread. Palate is impressively smooth and the alcohol doesn’t really show, but I think it could offer some more warmth. Smacks of fresh lemons. Rich, with light cream. A little cloying with a few notes of esters and phenols. Tasty!

First off, may I say...I love a growler filled all the way to the top! Yes!

Darkness abounds here, deep mahogony, with a slim, soon gone head.

Aroma speaks of dark fruit, big time banana, caramel, light spices...sweetness, indeed, very nice... a swell blending of weizen and bock.

Tastin' it: caramel-y first, yummy, candy-ish malty flavor, met next with slight spices, tingling the palate, then the dark fruit, dates, grapes, blackberries...very good. Yum, wheaty...deliciousness.

Full bodied, indeed...long, sweet, tasty finish. Very complex and rewarding. This is a rare brew, one that requires moments of contemplation and reflection, makes you slow down and check back with everything as you savor each sip. Drinking it now makes me wish I had a party going on and a dozen friends to share it with...too bad for them. hooray for me.

Does it taste like 7.5%? Just a little...Does it taste dandy and delicious? Yup, plenty much and then some. Yay, Fitger's!

Great effort on this one...pours out a real rich, dark brown color....looks regal...

Great nose...dark fruits...brown sugar...just a hint of alcohol (which is nowhere to be found on the taste)..subtle banana...

Taste is right up there with the best WB's I've had...(just a notch below Ramstein...in the same ballpark as Alesmith...better than Town Halls) I love the way the chocolate is incorporated...it blends perfectly with the dark fruits, and mild wheat banana bread...I would not like this if this tasted like a stout and it doesn't...it's exactly what I expect a weizenbock to taste like..

Body is medium....almost too easy to drink...the booze is hidden (at least for now)...easily rates in my top 5 WB's of all time and probably closer to top 2 or 3...the more I drink this the closer I think it really does come to my benchmark for this style (Ramstein Wheat)....

If you like Weizenbocks get your ass up to Fitger's in a hurry...this is a gem and won't last long..
