Castle Danger Pale Ale – The beer is named after a rock formation in Lake Superior. Poured into a standard pint the beer is a dark bronze with a tan head.

Nose reminds me of a red with lots of caramel and lightly toasted malts. Hops are very much in the background.

First taste confirms the missing hops, was this beer mislabeled (its not, I confirmed with the bartender)? As a red it is very good as a pale ale its a bit insipid. Lots of caramel and slightly sweet malts. Hops are very subdued and add a hint of citrus.

The mouth is sturdy in the best way. Drinkabilty is a tougher call, if your looking for an amber you will be ok, if you have your sights set on a pale ale you will be disappointed.
