Originally reviewed on November 22, 2005. On tap at the brewpub. Aroma is a dominating hot bourbon, with a hint of vinous and cocoa, but almost entirely bourbon, a quite negative thing. Pours a somewhat clear dark brown, with a ruby glimt and topped with a greasy coffee colored head. Bourbon hot! Flavor is bourbon, moving into a coffee and shortbread roasted phase. Two dimensional and lacking much depth. Bourbon and coffee. ItÂ’s sharp and hars. Palate is dryish. The bourbon does not mix well with the salty sweet texture of the stout.
